“Creating an atmosphere” is what he’s famous for.
“That’s my another side, I play “Bar sets”, as I call them, even more often then minimal ones. Nice sound system, music is not loud, people don’t notice it, and suddenly somebody start to dance, others join. Other DJs say I play Lounge, but for me it’s more House. Just the mood is very subtle. Like talking, or even whispering. If screaming, than in nice, juicy way.”
Eclectic light but uplifting DJ sets of Nu’Jazz, Funk, Balkan, Latino, Afrobeat are what he plays in Cuba Café (every Wednesday and some Fridays or Saturdays) and other selected Riga’ clubs.

We usually don’t write about rock music here, but U2 new album “No Line On The Horizon” changed it all. “Soldier bring oranges, he got them from a tank…” This song makes me feel so deeply in tune (seen situations like this live), Bono is just about dropping the very essence of the century, words of the generation. I was almost crying, how deeply it touched me. Please, please, even if you prefer other styles of music, take a time and listen to the album a few times. Cedars Of Lebanon, No Line On The Horizon, Magnificent, Moment Of Surrender are probably my best, but the entire album is the same high level, no fillers.
And take your attention to “Achtung Baby” again. Such a perfect combination of great sound, great words, great melodies.

President Bongo, one half of Gus Gus’ production side, the only DJ in Gus Gus collective, with his eclectic set in Garage!
Gus Gus have visited Garage in Andrejsala last spring after their concert in Riga, we all remember partying crazy with them. No doubt why they chosen our club to spend a hot night after hot gig – we have best atmosphere full of love – exactly what GusGus Message is about.
So now, after Gus Gus had a rest after world tour, they’re back in the studio (check fresh ‘Bassapella’ track on myspace player) and back to clubs, thanx to President!
