Nina Simone – Love Me or Leave Me (Charly Rec / ZYX Rec)
The b-side for incredibly popular My Baby Just Cares For Me, Love Me is 160 bpm uplifting piano jazz, energetic and … it’s Nina Simone, what else you need to know. The Greatest Jazz Diva!
The Village Callers – Evil Ways (“Live” LP album) (Vampi Soul)
The Village Callers – I Dont Need No Doctor (“Live” LP album) (Vampi Soul)
The Village Callers – Mississippi Delta (“Live” LP album) (Vampi Soul)

The Village Callers – I’m Leaving (“Live” LP album) (Vampi Soul)
I’m so so gla-a-ad I finally got this album on vinyl! A really hard to find, took me half year! Original press from 1968 costs 200$ now, this Vampi Sound repress came in 2003, but somehow went around me. Than I noticed 2007 digital download reissue by Rampart and felt in love with this super band. They recorded only one live album, full of hits, really, any song is so beautiful. “They’re funk, they’re latino, they’re pop, they’re dance!” Angela Bell, lead singer has great touchy voice, Fuzzy Martinez sings smashing drum’n’bass-like monster smasher “I Dont Need No Doctor”, their amazing duo in “I’m Leaving”, delightful crowd screams, great atmosphere of the concert, you can feel a lot of nice energy coming from them. A must for everyone who is into funk, latino or jazz music. I wonder why the only 7″ press available is “Hector”, which is great song too, by this album has much better tracks in my opinion, which deserve 7″ pressing too.
The Shiffers – The Incredible Soundtrack Adventure (CD album) (IRMA)
Is it a parody on last 50 years of pop music? Yes or no, but the result is pure fun. Favourite tracks are dance oriented Asa Nisi Masa, Barbarella, Body Down, Cha Cha Chapa, TV Show, Boule De Neige, Che Gambe, Ma Piovre, Fate Le Coppie, Optical, Reality, Smiling And Joking and beautifull touchy Lotus Eaters, which stand near The Beatles or Air. Claudio “Shiffer” Zanoni not only has written all 20 tracks on this album, but also produced it and played all instruments. Short tracks, uplifting, full of joy, jokes, optimism and funk, this is crossover between 60’s pop, breakbeat, jazz, tango, lounge and even d’n’b.
Skeewiff – Wet Your Beak (EP) (Jalapeno)
Can anybody elese make such a tasty blend of rock’n’roll, boogie, funk, jazz, beakbeat, latino and drum’n’bass? “Lost Due To Incompetence” (remember Cheech And Chong movie?) “Wet Your Beak”, “Light & Fuse” are monsters of fun’n’funk on this EP. I still play a lot of their older stuff and it’s never get boring. When somebody come to me and ask the name of track being played, in 73% of cases Skeewiff is the answer.
Mod X – The Quest (Paul Murphy rmx) (Ice & Spice Rec)
This one been around for a while, great latino/dub mixture of by Maestro Pol Mofi.
