After I got musical delay for the studio I\u2019ve decommissioned previous delay to serve as DAC in a living room.<\/p>\n

Sony DRP-L300<\/a> is a professional limiter\/delay designed for use in a video editing room or for the sound installations. It wasn\u2019t that convenient for use as a musical processor because lack of midi interface and no measurement in a BPM units, just raw milliseconds, keeps your calculator handy.<\/p>\n

As a serious device it has balanced analog\/AES\/EBU in\/outs. Converts everything to 48 kHz and compute it in 20 bit resolution. Good to have such device in a household. Especially if you have some cheap Blu-ray transport with a S\/PDIF output. Dig it? Why not to marry them with custom cable! After some internet research I\u2019ve figured out that it is quite easy to feed\u00a0S\/PDIF to\u00a0AES\/EBU (but not other way around). Accidentally I\u2019ve had a new Mogami cable and spare mother XLR and father RCA. Done!<\/p>\n

It\u2019s sounds much better as expected. Bodily. Which is no surprise as those devices completely from different leagues and converters can\u2019t compete. One and half grant (when was new) Sony and under two hundred dollars Pioneer BDP-150<\/a>. This couple can play CD, cd like flaks from NAS, but not Hi-Res and multichannel, nor Blu-ray. It can play SACD. I think it\u2019s because that Pioneer probably can transcode DSD to PCM on the fly, nevertheless it\u2019s sounds great! Feed by balanced cables to my Yamaha PC1000. Now I listening Norah Jones SACD. Fantastic, nice and juicy.<\/p>\n
